The Western Wall (The Kotel)
Jerusalem Tour
The Kotel is considered by many to be the holiest place for the Jewish people.
It is a remnant of the Second Temple. There is a Midrash that says the Shekhina does not move from the Western Wall. Maybe that’s why Jews and in the last few years many foreigners come to pray here. It is told that when Titus destroyed the Temple he wished to leave the Wailing Wall complete to show the world the size and glory of the Temple that he destroyed.
For hundreds of years, a short section of 27 meters from the Wall was the only place in the area of the Temple Mount that Jews were allowed to pray. Jews from all over the world would come here together bringing their prayers here. Prayers that they carried with them on notes. These notes eventually found themselves among the stones of the Western Wall.
Today thousands of people every day visit the site together with their prayers. On a private tour with Jewish Israel tours, we will be privileged to discover the hidden parts of the Western Wall. The remnant of our temple.
The Western Wall is one of many sites that are a part in a full Tour of the city of Jerusalem.
