Wine, nature, ancient Shiloh and modern community in the heart of Israel
Go to the land of Binyamin
The area comprising the Biblical heritage of Binyamin (Land of Benjamin) is one of the most spectacular and beautiful Regions in Israel.
Within a 20-minute drive from Jerusalem are archeological sites, pristine springs, breathtaking landscapes, flourishing agriculture, boutique wineries and growing townships.
Seeing the landscape of this region one cannot but understand Jacob’s blessing to his son Binyamin, “Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning he devours the prey, And in the evening he divides the spoil.” (Bereshit 49, 27).
Our tour will begin in Anatot, the birthplace of the prophet Jeremiah, today a flourishing Jewish community. The valley below the village is one of Israel’s most beautiful nature reserves, Nahal Prat. After visiting the reserve with its clear, fresh water, we will continue to the Nahalat Binyamin Visitors Center situated in Maavar Michmash. It is overlooking close to the site of the famous battle between the King Saul’s son, Jonathan, and the Philistines.
Beit El \Bethel
After taking in the exceptional view, we will hear about what is happening today in the Binyamin Regional Council and then continue to Beit El. Upon his fleeing Cnaan and his brother, Esav, and after his famous dream of angels ascending and descending a ladder, Jacob received a promise from God whereby He will protect him wherever he may be. The promise was fulfilled, and Jacob later returned to the same place and built an altar to thank God for his goodness. We, too, shall visit the site in Bet El associated with Jacob’s dream.
Tel Shiloh, north of Bet El is where the Mishkan, the Tabernacle, resided for 369 years. We will tour the site, meet figures from the past and learn about the rich history and archeology under our feet.
Then we will drive through vineyards and olive groves to one of the most beautiful observation points looking over the Jordan Valley.
Next stop The Shomron (Samaria)
The center of the biblical Kingdom of Israel, a magical area that is hardly visited today.
In the Shomron we will meet with flourishing Jewish settlements, impressive ancient locations and breathtakingly beautiful landscapes. Samaria is a home for boutique wineries producing some of the world’s best kosher wines, and breathtakingly beautiful landscapes.
Our first stop in Shomron will be at the beautiful organic farm at Gevaot Olam where one can taste the special goats’ milk products produced there.
From Gevaot Olam we will ride to Har Kabir and see Tirtzah, the capital of the biblical Kingdom of Israel and hear the story of King Avimelech who ruled over Shchem. We will continue to Har Gerizim and visit the Samaritan community, and from the observation point look out at Kever Yosef, the tomb of Joseph in Shchem.
A visit to one of the boutique prize-winning wineries in the area where we can eat a light lunch is highly recommended.
With Jewish Israeli Tours you can see the Shomron in a magical light.
